ENGINE AIR-INLET SILENCER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention contemplates provision of a relatively large cavity chamber as the means of supplying a substantially unimpeded flow of inlet air to the carburetor system of an internal-combustion engine. Air is admitted to the chamber via a plurality of tubular passages. Each of the passages is related in sectional area and length, to the effective volume of the chamber, for reduction of external transmission of carburetor-intake noise. And the number of passages is selected to assure that the cumulative sectional area of all tubular inlet passages so satisfies the most extreme inlet-airflow demand by the engine that the supply to the engine is substantially unimpeded. Illustrative embodiments are described.
