ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a method and apparatus for heating liquid-cooled, automotive engines during cold weather conditions. The method comprises heating the liquid coolant of the engine with an electric heater emplaced in the coolant containing cooling jacket of the engine block, measuring the engine block temperature with a temperature sensing device and regulating the passage of electrical current to the electric heater in accordance with predetermined high and low block temperature settings.
