An engine control module (10) is associated (510, 610, 710) with a particular engine system (20), and used to store information concerning manufacturing instructions for manufacturing the engine system (520, 720) and as-built information (630, 750) about the particular engine system (620). The engine control module also stores engine system operating instructions (550, 650, 770) operable to enable the engine control (10) to control one or more aspects of the engine system (20) operation.
