ENGINE CYLINDER INTAKE PORT Abstract of the Disclosure A cylinder intake port in an internal combustion engine which provides a combination of high swirl and flow efficiency. The port features roof ramps of differing angles leading on opposite sides of a valve axis into a swirl bowl with a shelf portion above the port throat. The flow path below the ramp of lower angle is generally tangent with the outer portion of the cylinder and yields a positive swirl component while the flow area on the opposite side of the valve stem remains relatively unrestricted.
