ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A valve de-activator for de-compressing selected cylinders of an internal combustion engine by locking open the valve or valves of end cylinders. By de-compressing a cylinder, the normal vacuum and pressure of compression are destroyed and the engine ceases to run on that cylinder, thereby saving fuel. End operation is particularly suitable for high-speed driving, where only a part of the total engine power is required.
