ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed herein is a lawn mower including a blade housing, wheels for supporting the blade housing for movement along the ground, a rotary cutter blade rotatably supported in the blade housing, and an internal combustion engine carried by the housing and rotatably driving the cutter blade. The engine includes an engine block having a head and a cylinder integrally joined with the head, the cylinder including an open end, and a crankcase cover secured to the open end, the crankcase cover including bearing surfaces spaced apart at a distance less than the diameter of the cylinder. The engine further includes a crankshaft rotatably supported between the engine block and the crankcase cover, the crankshaft being rotatable about an axis transverse to the cylinder and engaging the bearing surfaces on the crankcase cover to limit axial crankshaft movement.
