This invention is a novel engine, in which the internal pressure varies harmonically during power stroke. Even though the engine has many parts in common to prior art engines, its principle of operation differs that of prior art diesel or gasoline engine as it releases energy from fuel in such a way that the prior art engine could not withstand. The energy release from fuel is very rapid by exploding fuel vapor or gaseous fuels premixed with air in explosive proportion. Its design is different too. It is different as explosions of fuel do not act on work producing piston at all, but rather on an additional piston that floats on a compressible air pocket over the work piston. The arrangement converts huge pulse of pressure, resulting from the explosions, into sinusoidal variations of pressure acting on work producing piston and that improves mathematical model of energy conversion and the efficiency; as the prior art expansion is imposed on harmonic variations of pressure. To maximize the said pressure pulse, the detonation of fuel initiates precisely at TDC, which prevents losses related to the advancement of ignition in prior art engines. The conversion does boost the efficiency and also improves torque/speed and powers speed characteristics, so the engine could be directly clutched to load (wheels) without any reduction gears or transmission.
