A B S T R A C T ENGINEERING THERMOPLASTICS CONTAINING PENDANT BENZOCYCLOBUTENE GROUPS Preparation of novel reactive engineering thermoplastics containing arylcyclobutene groups pendant to an aromatic ring by alkylation or acylation of an engineering thermoplastic which contains one or more aromatic groups capable of being alkylated or acylated with a suitable arylcyclobutene alkylating or acylating agent. The prepared reactive engineering thermoplastics containing pendant arylcyclobutene groups may be cross-linked and cured by heating above 200 °C.
