ABSTRACT The invention relates to a process and apparatus for improving the efficiency of power generation systems with the combustion of fuel and using a power generator drivingly connectable with a gas turbine combustor and means for adding a metered quantity of fuel such that there is present in the resulting mixture a stoichiometric excess of oxygen of at least 1.5% to the exhaust gases from the gas turbine, and combusting the resulting mixture in a combustor of such dimensions that the total pressure drop across the combustor is less than 10%, and the said or a second power generator is operatively connected thereto.
