Novel compositions and methods useful for genetic engineering of plant cells to provide increased expression in the plastids of a plant or plant cell of a protein which produces a phenotype which is present when the plant or plant cell is grown in the absence of means for selecting transformed cells. Expression of the Bacillus thuringiensis bacterial protoxin in a plant chloroplast is exemplified.
Cette invention concerne des compositions et des procédés nouveaux qu'on peut utiliser pour produire par génie génétique des cellules de plante qui assurent une meilleure expression, dans les plastes d'une plante ou d'une cellule de plante, d'une proteine produisant un phénotype qui existe lorsque la plante ou la cellule de plante est cultivée en l'absence d'un moyen destiné à sélectionner les cellules transformées. On donne en exemple l'expression de la protoxine bactérienne du Bacillus thuringiensis dans un chloroplaste de plante.
