0014/FSC8 17893 TITLE OF THE INVENTION ENHANCED EXPRESSION OF HETEROLOGOUS PROTEINS IN RECOMBINANT HOSTS IN A NON-GROWTH MEDIA ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a fermentation process for producing recombinant proteins in a recombinant host strain. The process can be adapted for organisms containing a mutation in cell, wall and/or plasma membrane biosynthesis (e.g. mnn9) in a non-growth media. An example of such a strain is described in Merck's Application serial number 202,764, filed June 3, 1988. Additionally, the process can be adapted for organisms containing "wild-type" cell walls and plasma membrane.
