ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A coating composition for use in carbonless copying systems including (1) a resin dispersion which is a phenol/aldehyde condensation product formed by the interaction of an alkyl- substituted salicylic acid, an alkyl-substituted phenol, an aldehyde and a metal source; (2) a binder; and (3) a pigment. This coating composition provides faster imaging in carbonless systems than conventional coatings, at temperature below room temperature.
