ENHANCING THE PERCEIVED STRENGTH OF TOBACCO SMOKE ABSTRACT Perceived strength of a smoking article is enhanced by the inclusion in that article of an alkali metal borate, especially sodium tetraborate decahydrate. The additive is preferably in the filter of such an article, of which the tobacco is preferably flue-cured.
