The process relates to the continuous and batch treatment of bulk ammonium nitrate and emulsion type blasting agents with the addition of the blend we are attempting to patent. This will be primarily used in the mining and explosives industry. The process gives significant performance, manufacturing and safety enhancements. The blending of finely dispersed recycled and or virgin aluminium, various hydrocarbons and a surfactant, in a specified formula, creates a stable methodology hereto not shown in the manufacturing of explosives. The prior method was to include these chemicals at varying stages of production. The aluminium is the most dangerous process as fine grade aluminium is highly explosive in a dust form. The system proposed is the combination of the fuel, (diesel, bio diesel, mineral oil etc.) the aluminium (recycled) and a surfactant (emulsifier or soap) into a paste that may be fed into the AN/FO and emulsion making process as stable and dust free product that is held in suspension for ease of distribution. In the case of emulsion based explosives the blend will be a zero or very low BTU (British Thermal Unit) liquid of low viscosity, a light emulsion agent and aluminium in a cream like consistency as the oil and oxidizer are blended into an emulsion prior to introduction of our product. The viscosity may be adjusted to suit the end users need and to suit his production method and pumping capabilities. Traditional methods of adding aluminum to ammonium nitrate cause significant changes in the users operation. The process is also very dusty and dangerous. This leads to the end user to lose benefits by having to manage a difficult product.
