This invention is directed to occluding devices and methods of using such devices for occluding a patient~s body lumen, such as a reproductive lumen for contraceptive purposes. The occluding device generally has an occluding component (11), a first metallic element (16) associated with the occluding component, a second metallic element (17) associated with the occluding component. The first and second metallic elements are configured to generate electrical activity which enhances tissue growth into and/or onto the occluding component to aid in lumen occlusion. In one embodiment the first and second metallic elements are formed of different metallic materials and generate galvanic activity. In a second embodiment electrical power is applies to the first and second metallic elements to generate electrical activity that enhances tissue growth.
Cette invention porte sur des dispositif d'occlusion et sur des procédés d'utilisation de ces dispositifs destinés à obturer le lumen biologique d'un patient tel qu'un lumen reproducteur à des fins contraceptives. Le dispositif d'occlusion possède généralement un composant d'occlusion (11), un premier élément métallique (16) associé au composant d'occlusion, un second élément métallique (17) associé au composant d'occlusion. Les premier et second éléments métalliques sont configurés de façon à générer une activité électrique qui améliore la croissance des tissus dans et/ou sur le composant d'occlusion afin de faciliter l'occlusion du lumen. Selon une forme d'exécution, les premier et second éléments métalliques sont formés dans des matériaux métalliques différents et génèrent une activité galvanique. Selon une seconde forme d'exécution, un courant électrique est envoyé vers les premier et second éléments métalliques afin de générer une activité électrique qui améliore la croissance des tissus.
