Abstract A method of separating clusters of substantially uniform numbers of individual assembly parts from a coherent mass of such parts is disclosed. The method comprises sub-dividing the mass of assembly parts into successive clusters of substantially uniform numbers of individual assembly parts by continuously and successively lifting selected ones of said clusters out of the mass, delivering the successive clusters of the assembly parts to a linear conveyor, and orienting the clusters of the assembly parts while linearly conveying the clusters. An apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed.
