Abstract of the Disclosure Pulses from a reference oscillator are counted in a counter to provide a count output as a changeable digital value. A ramp generator generates a saw-tooth wave which changes in synchronism with the count output. A comparison voltage generator, which may typically comprise a variable resistor, is also pro- vided. A load enable signal generator compares the saw-tooth wave and the comparison voltage set in the comparison voltage generator and provides a load enable signal whenever the compared signals coincide with one another. A digital memory is provided to be responsive to the load enable signal to store the instan- taneously occurring count output. The load enable signal can be inhibited except upon actuation of a touch switch associated with the comparison voltage generator, and can be controlled to occur only with predetermined counts of the counter. The apparatus is of particular use in a frequency synthesizer radio receiver.
