RCA 73,799 Abstract of the Disclosure An envelope for a flat panel display device is comprised of two portions which respectively include a baseplate and a faceplate held in a spaced parallel relationship by a plurality of sidewalls. A plurality of support walls supports the envelope against collapse from atmospheric pressure. Differences in the heights of the side walls and support walls are compensated for by a flexible seal which extends around the periphery of the envelope so that the faceplate and baseplate and sidewalls are coupled through the flexible seal.
