A device for forming a seal around an elongate member comprises: (a) a sealing material having a surface onto which the elongate member can be placed; (b) means for displacing the elongate member substantially laterally into the sealing material; and (c) means for applying a force to said surface after displacement of the elongate member thereby putting the sealing material under pressure.

Ce dispositif, destiné à former un scellement autour d'un élément de forme allongé, comprend: (a) un matériau de scellement possédant une surface sur laquelle on peut placer l'élément de forme allongée; (b) des moyens de déplacement de l'élément allongé sensiblement latéralement dans le matériau de scellement; et (c) des moyens d'application d'une force sur la surface du matériau, après déplacement de l'élément allongé, ces moyens mettant ainsi sous pression ledit matériau.
