The present invention provides a controlled-release insect repellent device and a method for repelling insects from food, tobacco, or other consumable items. The controlled-release insect repellent device comprises an insect repellent composition contacting a substrate. The controlled-release insect repellent device is prepared by a method comprising applying the insect repellent composition to the substrate wherein the repellent compound used is present in the controlled-release insect repellent device in an amount such that when it is released it is non-toxic to humans and animals. The method for repelling insects comprises placing the controlled-release insect repellent device in an area where insects may be present. The insect repellent composition comprises a repellent compound and a controlled-release agent, the controlled-release agent which comprises a compound which may be synthetic and/or natural and, optionally, a solvent. The repellent compound may be chosen from the group consisting of essential oils and active ingredients of essential oils.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif répulsif à émission contrôlée et un procédé pour éloigner les insectes des aliments, du tabac ou d'autres produits de consommation. Ledit dispositif répulsif à émission contrôlée comporte une composition répulsive en contact avec un substrat. Le dispositif répulsif à émission contrôlée est préparé selon un procédé qui consiste, notamment, à appliquer la composition répulsive sur le substrat, le composé répulsif étant présent dans le dispositif répulsif en quantité telle qu'il est non toxique pour les êtres humains et les animaux lorsqu'il est émis. Le procédé répulsif consiste à placer le dispositif répulsif à émission contrôlée dans une zone susceptible d'accueillir des insectes. La composition répulsive comprend un composé répulsif et un agent d'émission contrôlée, l'agent d'émission contrôlée comprenant un composé qui peut être synthétique et/ou naturel, et, de manière facultative, un solvant. Le composé répulsif peut être choisi dans un groupe constitué par les huiles essentielles et des ingrédients actifs des huiles essentielles.
