ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to novel 7-(5-amino- 5-carboxyvaleramido)-7-methoxy-3-hydroxymethyl-3-cephem-4- carboxylic acid derivatives having the following formula: Image wherein R1 represents a lower acyl group, an arylacyl group, a lower alkoxycarbonyl group or an arylalkoxycarboxyl group. Such derivatives are prepared by subjecting cephamycin type compounds to the action of esterase enzyme of mold fungi or fermentation product from mold fungi containing esterase enzyme. These derivatives are important intermediates for the production of cephamycin type antibiotics substances.
