ABSTRACT This invention relates to a method of converting steroidal material in which the steroid nucleus carries a hydroxyl group into a steroidal product in which the hydroxyl group is replaced by a group selected from oxo, alkoxy and acyloxy groups, comprising subjecting the steroidal material to reaction in a water immiscible solvent which is at least 50% non-aqueous and in the presence of supported enzymic material. - 1 -
