The present invention is based on the finding that inhibition of eotaxin-2 by polyclonal or monoclonal antibodies, has a significant protective effect in animal models of inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), colitis, diabetes, and atherosclerosis. The invention thus provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising specific anti-eotaxin 2 antibodies for use alone or in combination with other therapeutic agents in the treatment of inflammatory, autoimmune and cardiovascular diseases. The invention also provides specific anti-eotaxin-2 monoclonal antibodies, and methods of treatment utilizing the antibodies of the invention.
La présente invention est basée sur la découverte que l'inhibition de l'éotaxine-2 par des anticorps polyclonaux ou monoclonaux a un effet protecteur important dans des modèles animaux contre des maladies inflammatoires telles que la polyarthrite rhumatoïde, l'encéphalomyélite auto-immune expérimentale (EAE), la colite, le diabète et l'athérosclérose. L'invention porte donc sur des compositions pharmaceutiques comprenant des anticorps spécifiques dirigés contre l'éotaxine-2, destinés à être utilisés seuls ou en association avec d'autres agents thérapeutiques dans le traitement de maladies inflammatoires, auto-immunes et cardiovasculaires. L'invention porte également sur des anticorps monoclonaux spécifiques dirigés contre l'éotaxine-2 et sur des procédés de traitement utilisant les anticorps de l'invention.
