The present invention provides methods of detection, including early detection, for cancer or other diseases and normal physiologic processes mediated by global epigenetic changes, by using one or more of the following biomarkers: a global DNA methylation index, a global histone H4 acetylation index, and a global histone H4 trimethylation index. These methods are useful for, among other things, assessing the effectiveness of treatment, monitoring relapse, and clinical staging of cancer and other chronic as well as acute diseases. These methods are also useful for among other things monitoring the effectiveness of strategies and therapies used to modify lifestyle and contextual effects to prevent disease, foster wellness and enable health promotion.
La présente invention concerne des procédés de détection, comprenant la détection précoce, d'un cancer ou autres maladies et de processus physiologiques normaux médiés par des modifications épigénétiques globales, en utilisant un ou plusieurs des marqueurs biologiques suivants : un taux de méthylation global de l'ADN, un taux d'acétylation global de l'histone H4, et un taux de triméthylation global de l'histone H4. Ces procédés sont utiles, entre autres, pour évaluer l'efficacité d'un traitement, pour suivre les rechutes, et pour déterminer le stade clinique d'un cancer ou autres maladies chroniques et aiguës. Ces procédés sont également utiles, entre autres, pour suivre l'efficacité des stratégies et des traitements utilisés pour modifier le style de vie et les effets contextuels pour empêcher la maladie, favoriser le bien-être et permettre une amélioration de la santé.
