ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process is disclosed for the epoxidation of lower ?-olefins by contacting lower ?-olefins (e.g., propylene) with oxygen in the presence of microorgan- isms or enzyme preparations derived therefrom. The microorganisms or enzyme preparations derived therefrom are preferably those microorganisms which are known as methylotrophs particularly those which previously grown in a nutrient medium containing methane.
