Olefins are selectively converted to epoxides using hydrogen peroxide as oxidant in a single liquid phase reaction system characterized by a liquid phase comprised predominantly of an organic solvent. The reaction is catalyzed by a compound comprised of a phosphate-stabilized peroxotungstate species having a W:P atomic ratio of 2:1.

L'invention concerne des oléfines qui sont transformées, de manière sélective, en époxydes à l'aide de péroxyde d'hydrogène utilisé comme oxydant dans un système de réaction à une seule phase liquide. Ce système se caractérise par une phase liquide constituée essentiellement d'un solvant organique. La réaction est catalysée par un composé comprenant des espèces de péroxotungstate stabilisées au phosphate, avec un rapport atomique W/P de 2/1.
