Novel epoxy acrylates and carboxyl group- containing epoxy acrylates of formulae III Image wherein Q is hydrogen or a group of formula Image wherein R1 is -H or -CH3, R2 is -H, -CH3 or phenyl, T is a radical of an aromatic bifunctional compound, and M is each independently hydrogen or group of formula Image in which R1 and R2 are as defined above, A is the radical of an aromatic bifunctional compound, n is an integer from 0 to 300, and L is a group of formula Image M-O-A-O-, with the proviso that in formula (III) not all radicals M are simultaneously hydrogen but at least 10 mol% which are not present in the end groups Q and L denote a group of the above formula given for M, and IV Image wherein X is hydrogen or a group of formula Image R3 is the radical of succinic acid anhydride after removal of the anhydride radical, W1 is hydrogen or a group of formula Image W2 is -H or a group of formula Image and Y is a group of formula -O-A-O-W1 or Image wherein A and T are each a radical of an aromatic bifunctional compound, R1 is -H or -CH3, R2 is -H, -CH3 or phenyl, and n is an integer from 0 to 300, with the proviso that, in formula (IV), at least 10 mol% of radicals W1 that are not in the end groups X and Y are a group of formula Image wherein R1, R2, and R3 are as defined above, of the claims that are relatively polymolecular and are chemically crosslinkable can be used in photoresist formulations with the additional use of highly polymerised polymer binders. Such resist formulations are used in particular in the field of printed circuit boards and printing plates, are applicable from aqueous medium, are almost tack-free and have very good edge coverage, especially on conductors.
