Dithiocarbamic salts made from the reaction products of certain polyamines and epoxides have been found to be useful to clarify water, particularly the oil-in-water emulsions which accompany crude oil production. The water clarification may be accomplished by demulsification or flocculation. The polyamine reaction products themselves are novel and may have the structure (see fig. I) where R" is selected from the group consisting of the structure -R-NH2 and (see fig. II) where R is selected from the group consisting of straight, branched or cyclic alkylene moieties; arylene moieties; substituted straight, branched or cyclic alkylene moieties; substituted arylene moieties or mixtures thereof; and where R' is -(CH2)m-O-R-O-(CH2)m- where n and m independently range from 1 to 5 and q is 0 or 1. The dithiocarbamic salts made from these polyamines also find use as corrosion inhibitors.

Des sels dithiocarbamiques obtenus à partir des produits de réaction de certaines polyamines et d'époxydes se sont révélé utiles pour clarifier l'eau, notamment les émulsions d'huile dans l'eau qui accompagnent la production d'huiles brutes. La clarification de l'eau peut être effectuée par désémulsification ou floculation. Les produits de réaction des polyamines sont eux mêmes nouveaux et peuvent avoir la structure (II) où R" est choisi dans le groupe à structure -R-NH2, où R est choisi parmi des fractions d'alkylène ramifié ou cyclique : fractions d'arylène; fractions d'alkylène linéaire, ramifié ou cyclique, avec substitution; fractions d'arylène avec substitution ou leurs mélanges; R' est -(CH2)m-O-R-O-(CH2)m-, où n et m sont indépendamment l'un de l'autre 1 à 5 et q est 0 ou 1. Les sels dithiocarbamiques obtenus à partir de ces polyamines sont également utiles comme agents anti-corrosion.
