-20- A B S T R A C T EQUIPMENT FOR THE AUTOMATIC INSERTING OF ENCODED CARDS INSIDE ENVELOPES The invention is concerned with the automatic insertion of plastic cards into a small envelope and insertion thereof with a notification into a second larger envelope. The inser- tion installation serves for that purpose and includes at least one shaft. The plastic cards are introduced into the shaft, in a pre-sorted condition. They are removed there- from, magnetically read and brought together to form stacks of up to about five items. The stack is inserted into the small envelope. The small envelope, with the notification and possibly enclosures, is introduced into the second lar- ger envelope. The installation is used by medical insurance organisations, employment centres and private users who send their members and customers magnetically coded plastic cards.
