ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to equipment containing an initiator for generating a shock wave, particularly an air shock wave, and a damping device arranged in the path of the shock wave, In accordance with the invention, the damping device has such properties that it affects the amplitude and frequency of the shock wave such that the shock wave, after having passed through the damping device, has little effect on objects in its path, and that the shock wave at its passage particularly destroys the damping device completely. Preferably, the damping device consists of a container, for instance of wood or plastic, containing a damping medium, and the medium consists of a fluid with or without a suspension, for instance in the form of an emulsion.
