ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cast iron alloy of about (% by weight) 1.6 carbon, 2 nickel, 2 molybdenum, 28 chromium and up to 1 copper, balance iron, and characterized by chromium and molybdenum carbides dispersed in an austenitic matrix. The cast iron alloy of this invention is used in castings that are resistant to chemical attack as well as abrasive wear. These castings are especially suitable for use in pump parts such as housing, vanes, impellers, etc.
