A resistivity logging tool suitable for downhole use includes a transmitter, two spaced apart receivers. The measured signals are inverted to determine the distance to a boundary in the earth formation in the presence of a transition zone in resistivity. The direction of drilling may be controlled based on the determined distance.

L'invention concerne un outil d~enregistrement de la résistance convenant pour un usage lors de forages et incluant un transmetteur, deux récepteurs séparés. Les signaux mesurés sont inversés pour déterminer la distance à une limite dans la composition terrestre en présence d'une zone de transition en termes de résistance. La direction du forage peut être contrôlée sur la base de la distance déterminée.
