The present invention discloses an audio channel field for use in transmitting digital audio in a communication system. The audio channel field includes at least two nibbles (130a-d) of the digital audio. The audio channel field further includes a channel check field (130e) calculated from one or more bits from each of the at least two nibbles selected from the most significant bit to least significant bit but in no event more than a portion of each of the nibbles. The present disclosure also includes an error detection apparatus which includes a comparator (302) for comparing the value of the channel check field and the output of a second channel check field calculator and a circuit responding to the output from the comparator indicating non-equality of the channel check field and the second output by muting the audio and/or searching for a new transmission/reception channel for the communication system.
L'invention concerne un champ de voie audio pour la transmission audio-numérique dans un système de communication. Ce champ comprend au moins deux quartets (130a-d) de signaux audio-numériques, ainsi qu'un champ de vérification de voie (130e) établi à partir d'un ou de plusieurs bits de chacun des quartets (au moins deux) choisis entre le bit de poids fort et le bit de poids faible, mais en aucun cas sur plus d'une partie de chaque quartet. On décrit aussi un dispositif de détection d'erreur qui comporte un comparateur (302) confrontant la valeur du champ de vérification de voie et la valeur d'un second calculateur de champ de vérification de voie. Le dispositif comprend aussi un circuit réagissant au résultat du comparateur lorsque celui indique qu'il n'y pas concordance entre la valeur du champ de vérification de voie et la valeur du second calculateur du champ de vérification de voie: cette réaction consiste à bloquer les signaux audio et/ou à rechercher une nouvelle voie de transmission/réception pour le système de communication.
