ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE NEW ERYTHROMYCIN A COMPOUNDS, A PROCESS FOR THEIR MANUFACTURE AND THEIR USE IN THE CONTROL OF BACTERIA ABSTRACT N-Methyl erythromycin A derivatives which may have alkanoyl substituents in the 13, 14 2' and/or 3" positions, are made by reacting the methyl derivatives with ethylene carbonate and, if required, acylating the product with an appropriate carboxylic acid anhydride. The compounds have activity against a wide range of bacteria.
