The present invention describes the identification, isolation and characterization of novel mammalian proteins encoded by the Ese1 and Ese2 genes which are involved in endocytosis, vesicular trafficking and regulation of the actin cytoskeleton. Transcripts and products of these genes are useful for detecting abnormal cellular endocytosis processes as well as for developing assay systems to find and elucidate further binding partners of the proteins, to develop therapeutics to alter/restore protein function and for the isolation and manufacture of Ese proteins.

La présente invention porte sur l'identification, l'isolation et la caractérisation de nouvelles protéines mammaliennes codées par les gènes Ese1 et Ese2 impliqués dans l'endocytose, le trafic et la régulation vésiculaire du cytosquelette de l'actine. Les produits de transcription et ces produits géniques sont utiles pour détecter des processus anormaux de l'endocytose cellulaire et développer des systèmes de dosage de façon à rechercher et expliquer ensuite les partenaires de liaison des protéines en vue de mettre au point des thérapeutiques et modifier/rétablir la fonction des protéines. Ces produits sont également utiles dans l'isolation et la fabrication des protéines Ese.
