An ester-containing reaction product of a carbonyl compound, preferably an acyl halide and a thiodiphenol has high temperature antioxidant properties. The reaction product is useful as a synthetic lubricant base fluid or as an antioxidant additive when used in minor amounts of 0.01 to 10 wt.% in a mineral oil or hydrocracked oil lubricant base fluid. The reaction product can also be used in a fuel.

Produit contenant un ester, obtenu par réaction d'un composé carbonyle, de préférence, un halogénure d'acyle et d'un thiodiphénol, et possédant des propriétés antioxydantes à hautes températures. Ce produit de réaction est utile en tant que fluide de base pour lubrifiant synthétique ou en tant qu'additif antioxydant lorsqu'on l'utilise en petites quantités comprises entre 0,01 et 10 % en poids, dans une huile minérale ou dans un fluide de base pour lubrifiant d'huile d'hydrocraquage. On peut également utiliser ce produit de réaction dans un carburant.
