ABSTRACT The specification describes a tooth- and/or mouth-care agent such as toothpaste and mouthwash, which has decay and paradentosis-retarding effects. The agent is characterized by the content of 0.1 to 20 weight percent, relative to the total weight of the agent, of an active ingredient. The ingredient can be selected from the group consisting or esters of lysine with straight or branched chain, saturated or unsaturated, monovalent aliphatic alcohol with 4 to 20 carbon atoms and their salts, and mixtures thereof. The active ingredient is preferably lysinepalmitylester dihydrochloride. The tooth- and/or mouth care agent of this invention exhibits good decay and paraden- tosis restraining effect and the smallest possible microbiocidal effect.
