The present invention provides a catalyst composition suitable for the production of high boiling esters comprising a source of stannous tin and an alkali metal aluminate. In one preferred embodiment the catalyst comprises about 92 parts sand, about 5 parts stannous oxalate, and about 3 parts of a sodium aluminate, by weight, dry basis. This catalyst is particularly useful in making phthalates, adipates, sebacates and azelates which esters are chiefly used plasticizers.

La présente invention concerne une composition de catalyseur convenant à la production d'esters à haut point d'ébullition. Ce catalyseur comprend une source d'étain stanneux et un aluminate de métal alcalin. Dans une forme d'exécution préférée, le catalyseur contient environ 92 parties de sable, environ 5 parties d'oxalate d'étain stanneux et environ 3 parties en poids d'aluminate de sodium, en poids sec; ce catalyseur est particulièrement utile pour préparer des phthalates, des adipates, des sébaçates et des azélates, qui sont des esters utilisés surtout comme plastifiants.
