The invention concerns a method and devices for estimating a transmission channel from a multicarrier signal transmitted through said transmission channel, the signal comprising real pilot symbols and so-called pure imaginary pilot symbols, the methods consisting in selecting one or several values z¿k? of the received signal corresponding respectively to one or several real pilot symbols, and one or several values z¿l? of the received signal corresponding respectively to one or several pure imaginary pilot symbols, said pilot symbols being sufficiently close both in frequency and in time such that it can be assumed that the fading of the signal through the transmission channel has a complex value .alpha. substantially identical for said symbols, and further consisting in determining an estimated value ^.alpha. of .alpha. for the pilot symbols concerned, by minimizing a least square equation involving the values z¿k? and the values z¿l?.
L'invention propose un procédé et des dispositifs d'estimation d'un canal de transmission à partir d'un signal multiporteuses transmis à travers ledit canal de transmission, le signal comprenant des symboles pilotes réels et des symboles dits symboles pilotes imaginaires purs, les procédés consistant à sélectionner une ou plusieurs valeurs Zk du signal reçu correspondant respectivement à un ou plusieurs symboles pilotes réels d'une part, et une ou plusieurs valeurs Zl du signal reçu correspondant respectivement à un ou plusieurs symboles pilotes imaginaires purs d'autre part, ces symboles pilotes étant suffisamment rapprochés à la fois d'un point de vue fréquentiel et d'un point de vue temporel pour qu'il puisse être considéré que l'évanouissement ("fading") du signal à travers le canal de transmission a eu une valeur complexe .alpha. sensiblement identique pour ces symboles pilotes, et consistant en outre à déterminer une valeur estimée .alpha.' de .alpha. pour les symboles pilotes concernés, en minimisant une équation aux moindres carrés faisant intervenir les valeurs Zk et les valeurs Zl.
