A method and apparatus for estimating sample timing error in discrete multitone modulated signals. The phase of a selected measured tone is adjusted using an average phase error. A normalized phase error for the selected measured tone is estimated. The average phase error is updated with the estimated phase error. Processing is iterated over a given subset of tones and the sample timing error is calculated from the average phase error. Estimation of phase errors is done by phaser comparison to the closest ideal tone of the used constellation. Avoids the use of pilot tones thus saving bandwidth.
Procédé et appareil pour estimer l'erreur de temporisation d'échantillons dans des signaux discrets modulés à tonalités multiples. Une tonalité non traitée est mesurée. On ajuste la phase de la tonalité sélectionnée mesurée en utilisant une erreur de phase moyenne. Une erreur de phase normalisée pour la tonalité mesurée sélectionnée est estimée. L'erreur de phase moyenne est mise à jour avec l'erreur de phase estimée.
