ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE 3-Trichloromethyl-5-lower alkoxy-1,2,4-thiadiazole is prepared by an improved process wherein a selected base and a lower alkanol are reacted directly with 3-trichloromethyl-5-chloro-1,2,4-thiadiazole at ambient temperature, the reaction mixture neutralized and phased to recover product.
