ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention involves an ethoxylation product having the formula Image wherein R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having from 6 to 20 carbon atoms selected from the group consisting Or alkyl and alkenyl, R1 is an alkyl having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, X is a member selected from the group consisting of R1 and -(CH2-CH2-O)m-H, and n and m are integers, the sum of which being from 2 to 20; as well as the process for preparing the above compounds and wash- ing and cleansing compositions containing from 0.5% to 40% by weight of the same. The ethoxylation products of the invention have surface-active properties and are useful tensides in deter- gent formulations.
