Novel copolymers comprise ethylene and alpha olefins having from 3 to 10 carbon atoms and which have (a) a density in the range 0.900 to 0.940; (b) Mw/Mn of 2-3.4; (c) I21/I2 from 16 to 24; (d) activation energy of flow from 28 to 45 kJ/mol; (e) a ratio Ea(HMW)/Ea(LMW)>1.1; and (f) a ratio g'(HMW)/g'(LMW) from 0.85 to 0.95. The copolymers are particularly useful in film applications showing an excellent balance of processing, optical and mechanical properties. The novel polymers may suitably be prepared in the gas phase in the presence of metallocene complexes.

Divulgation de nouveaux copolymères comprenant de l'éthylène et des alpha-oléfines comportant de 3 à 10 atomes de carbone et ayant : a) une densité comprise entre 0,900 et 0,940; b) une valeur Mw/Mn comprise entre 2 et 3,4; c) une valeur I21/I2 comprise entre 16 et 24; d) une énergie d'activation de l'écoulement comprise entre 28 et 45 kJ/mol; e) un rapport Ea(HMW)/Ea(LMW) supérieur à 1,1; f) un rapport g'(HMW)/g'(LMW) compris entre 0,85 et 0,95. Ces copolymères sont tout particulièrement utiles pour des applications sous forme de films où ils présentent un équilibre remarquable de leurs propriétés de traitement et de leurs propriétés optiques et mécaniques. Ces nouveaux polymères peuvent être préparés de manière appropriée en phase gazeuse en présence de complexes métallocènes.
