An ethylene polymerization process is disclosed. The process uses a single- site catalyst that contains a boraaryl ligand. It comprises supporting the catalyst, forming a slurry of the supported catalyst in an organic solvent, mixing the catalyst slurry with trialkyl aluminum compound, and polymerizing ethylene in the presence of the trialkyl aluminum-treated catalyst slurry. The process gives polyethylene having a controlled long-chain-branch index.
L'invention concerne un procédé de polymérisation d'éthylène. Ce procédé fait intervenir un catalyseur monosite renfermant un ligand boraaryle. Ce procédé consiste à supporter le catalyseur, à former une suspension à partir du catalyseur supporté dans un solvant organique, à mélanger la suspension catalytique au trialkylaluminium, et enfin, à polymériser l'éthylène en présence de la suspension catalytique traitée au trialkylaluminium. Ce procédé permet d'obtenir du polyéthylène ayant un indice contrôlé de ramification à longue chaîne.
