- 1 - Abstract: The invention provides a copolymer comprising mono- meric units derived from ethylene, tetrafluoroethylene and a fluorine-containing vinyl monomer which provides the copolymer with side chains having at least one car- bon atom. The molar ratio of the tetrafluoroethylene and ethylene is from 62:38 to 90:10 and the content of the fluorine-containing vinyl monomer is from 0.1 to 10 mole % based on the total number of moles of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene. The copolymer has improved flexibility and flame retardance compared with conven- tional copolymers of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene.
