RAN 4081/77 Abstract It has surprisingly been found that the ethylenedi- amine monoamides of the formula Image wherein R signifies an aromatic, 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic residue as defined in claim 1, and their pharmaceutically usable acid addition salts have interesting monoamine oxidase inhibiting properties with low toxicity and can accordingly be used for the treatment of depressive states and parkinsonism. With the exception of N-(2-aminoethyl)pyridine-2-carboxamide all compounds of formula I are novel; they can be manufactured according to known methods.
