47,550 EUROPIUM ACTIVATED AND TIN SENSITIZED CALCIUM SULFIDE PHOSPHOR PARTICULARLY ADAPTED FOR USE WITH HIGH-INTENSITY-DISCHARGE LAMPS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE High-intensity-discharge lamp incorporates a particular phosphor as a coating carried on the interior surface of the protective lamp envelope in order to add desired red radiations. The coating comprises phosphor which is calcium sulfide activated by divalent europium and sensitized by tin, along with suitable halogen coactivator. The phosphor is responsive both to long and short wavelength ultraviolet radiations to generate red radiations. The activator and sensitizer concentrations are selected to provide the necessary high-temperature response for the phosphor in its intended application.
