An eutectic solution of ammonium nitrate and either aminoguanidine nitrate (AGN) or guanidine nitrate (AN) in the form of a present pellet is used to generate a particulate-free, non-toxic, odorless and colorless gas that is useful wherever an immediate source of such gas is required, such as the inflation of an occupant restraint air bag. The use of the material in the form of an eutectic totally eliminates pellet cracking. Moreover, the addition of a minor amount of potassium nitrate to the eutectic solution eliminates the ammonium nitrate phase change due to temperature cycling without adversely affecting the pressed pellets' freedom from cracking due to said temperature cycling.
Une solution eutectique de nitrate d'ammonium et de nitrate d'aminoguanidine (AGN) ou nitrate de guanidine (AN) sous la forme de la présente pastille est utilisée pour produire un gaz incolore, inodore, non toxique et exempt de substances particulaires, utile partout où une source immédiate d'un tel gaz est nécessaire, comme le gonflage d'un coussin pneumatique de retenue de passagers. L'utilisation du matériau sous la forme d'une solution eutectique élimine totalement le craquage de la pastille. De plus, l'ajout d'une faible quantité de nitrate de potassium à la solution eutectique élimine la modification de phase du nitrate due au cycle de température, sans nuire à l'aptitude des pastilles comprimées à craquer sous l'effet dudit cycle de température.
