ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides a tubular evaporator element for use in a humdifier of the type which drives the element about its longitudinal axis in a stream of air. The element includes a pad adapted to pick up water, and a sleeve about the pad to provide support for the pad in use. The pad has a longitudinal joint through which end portions of the sleeve pass thereby locking the sleeve to the pad. A method of making the element is also described.
