ABSTRACT Excavating apparatus of limited mobility adapted primarily for indoor use on brick or cement surfaces and having a body adapted to make substantially planar contact with a supporting surface and to have an excavating implement attached thereto. It includes a stabilizer comprising at least one pair of legs having respective retractile feet and a substantially planar pad connected to a free end of each foot. The legs are pivotally attached at an inner end remote from the pads to respective sides of the body for lateral rotation towards and away from each other so as to vary the distance separating the feet and each foot is movable between an extended configuration in which the respective pad engages the supporting surface and a retracted configuration in which the pad is removed from the supporting surface.
